Forgotten Beauty Found
A symbol of hope, creativity, and the power of seeing beauty.
The Spark: Discovering CHAIR
During a cultural visit to Cuba, CR set out to continue his lifelong mission of capturing “Forgotten Beauty Found”, moments, objects, and stories the world often passes by. Havana immediately overwhelmed the senses with its saturated colors, vintage walls, and history layered into every street.
What began as a photography trip quickly became something deeper. The textures, the patina, and the resilience of the people created an environment where unnoticed beauty lived everywhere.
The Encounter and Exchange
Moved by the object’s beauty and symbolism, Christopher offered to buy the chair. But in Cuba, a chair is not disposable, it’s a necessity.
To honor that truth, he spent the next day searching Havana for a replacement. Eventually, he found one at a performing arts school and brought it back to the man at the taxi stand. Only then, with respect shown and a new chair in place, was CHAIR ready to begin his journey.
This moment marked the beginning of everything that followed.
The Transformation Begins
That night, CR placed CHAIR on a hotel bellhop cart like a treasured guest. The reaction was immediate; travelers, artists, staff, and press stopped to look. Questions followed. People smiled. Photos were taken.
CHAIR was no longer just an object; he had become a character, a presence, and a storyteller.
Over the following days, Christopher, CHAIR, and a new friend named Jose explored Havana together. They visited alleyways, sculptures, and landmarks across the city. Everywhere they went, CHAIR drew attention and curiosity.
People didn’t ask, “Who is the photographer?” They asked, “Who is this chair?”
For the first time, CHAIR revealed his power: transformation through imagination.
The Escape to America
Leaving Cuba with CHAIR was uncertain. Christopher wrapped him in cardboard and tape, disguising him as something unremarkable, something no one would bother examining. Against all odds, he passed through customs unnoticed.
On the flight home, Christopher sat beside renowned sculptor Ann Sperry. After hearing CHAIR’s story, she immediately recognized its significance and connected him with a museum curator.
Soon after, CHAIR was invited to join the exhibition “Take A Seat,” displayed alongside fifty of the most iconic chair designs in the world.
From a Havana taxi stand to a museum exhibition, CHAIR had already defied every expectation.

CHAIR has become the embodiment of “Forgotten Beauty Found”, a reminder that meaning and possibility exist in the overlooked and underestimated. His journey reveals powerful truths:
• Hope lives in unexpected places
• Purpose can be rediscovered
• Belief transforms the ordinary into extraordinary
From the streets of Havana to international exhibitions, CHAIR continues to inspire audiences to see beauty where others do not.
His story mirrors our own: once unseen, now recognized, and full of potential.
